After ending a run of eight audiobooks in my June listening with the amazing The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, I listened to seven audiobooks in August, with Michael J. Sullivan’s Theft of Swords, Daniel O’Malley’s The Rook, and G. Willow Wilson’s Alif the Unseen being the outstanding listens.

After six audiobooks in May (though KSR’s 2312 went on well into the first week of June) I listened to eight in June, with Tim Powers’s On Stranger Tides and Michael Chabon’s The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay being the outstanding audiobooks, with plenty to recommend Mark L. Van Name’s No Going Back, John Scalzi’s Redshirts, and Jon Sprunk’s Shadow’s Son.

April’s claim of 9 audiobooks was a bit of a “cheat”; I included the late Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 although I had actually read it in (very) early May. Here, things were going to again a bit stretched as it took a few days into June to finish the audiobook which took up most of my late May as well (Kim Stanley Robinson’s 2312) but hey, again, it’s my blog, I include what I want, when I want, right? So. Six audiobooks in May, several outstanding including J.M. McDermott’s Last Dragon, Lavie Tidhar’s Osama, and KSR’s 2312.

Last month it was 6 audiobooks, heavily slanted in favor of sf over fantasy. This month it’s back up to 9 audiobooks, with a pretty even split between genres, and some non-speculative (or at least not heavily speculative) stuff in the mix as well.

Quite a month in listening, with 8 audiobooks (up from six in January), but I really fell by the wayside in my print reading. A train trip to and from StellarCon (where I’m a guest, along with guest of honor Patrick Rothfuss and a long list of people much more awesome than me) this weekend should make for some dedicated reading time, when I hope to finally finish up James Maxey’s Greatshadow and get back to chapter 3 or so of Nancy Kress’s After the Fall, Before the Fall, During the Fall, and continue chipping away at that monstrous “to read” pile. The best listen this month goes to Little, Big: or, The Fairies’ Parliament by John Crowley, read by the author for Blackstone Audio. Anyway, making room for six of the eight covers:
HEARD:
On the heels of three audiobooks in the last bit of December (The Thirteen Hallows by Michael Scott and Colette Freedman, Earthbound by Joe Haldeman, and The Lost Gate: Mithermages, Book 1 by Orson Scott Card) I listened to six audiobooks this month; not too bad. It’s more than I had planned for, but several of them are quite short, and none of them are 30-hour epics:
